For the week of April 30- May 4, the word is DISTRACTION

1 Corinthians 7:31-33 (Message)

29-31I do want to point out, friends, that time is of the essence. There is no time to waste, so don’t complicate your lives unnecessarily. Keep it simple —in marriage, grief, joy, whatever. Even in ordinary things—your daily routines of shopping, and so on. Deal as sparingly as possible with the things the world thrusts on you. This world as you see it is on its way out.

32-35I want you to live as free of complications as possible. When you’re unmarried, you’re free to concentrate on simply pleasing the Master. Marriage involves you in all the nuts and bolts of domestic life and in wanting to please your spouse, leading to so many more demands on your attention. The time and energy that married people spend on caring for and nurturing each other, the unmarried can spend in becoming whole and holy instruments of God. I’m trying to be helpful and make it as easy as possible for you, not make things harder. All I want is for you to be able to develop a way of life in which you can spend plenty of time together with the Master without a lot of distractions.

The enemy knows the Word better than most Christians. He knows YOUR weaknesses and he knows well how to distract you. He knows how to complicate your thinking and your day. The only weapons you have to combat his tricks are the development of your knowledge and understanding of the Word as well as your development of your level of intimacy with the Father. Do you know who you are according to your Father? Do you know who are according to the Word? Do you know the marvelous plan God has for your life? If you don’t know that you know that you know at least pieces if these then the enemy will always be able to not only distract you but torment you!

When was the last time you spent intimate time with God? When was the last time you added more details about who you are to memory banks? When was the last time you reinforced your understanding by requiring His Presence? What are you allowing to distract you? What has pulled your eyes to left or right? Are you a warrior or a bystander? Many are called but few choose (Matt 22:14)! It’s your choice what you allow to distract you and what you absorb into your day. The Word is your weapon but you are Jesus’ weapon. You are His hands and feet on the Earth. You are His mouthpiece. Do not lay down your weapons – do not look to the left or the right.

20My son, attend to my words; consent and submit to my sayings.
21Let them not depart from your sight; keep them in the center of your heart.
22For they are life to those who find them, healing and health to all their flesh.
23Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life.
24Put away from you false and dishonest speech, and willful and contrary talk put far from you.
25Let your eyes look right on [with fixed purpose], and let your gaze be straight before you.
26Consider well the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established and ordered aright.
27Turn not aside to the right hand or to the left; remove your foot from evil.
(Proverbs 4:20-27 Amplified)

If you are looking to the left or the right you will miss the frontal assault.

To keep Satan from getting the advantage over us; for we are not ignorant of his wiles and intentions. (2 Corinthians 2:11)

A house divided against itself cannot stand (Mark 3:25)! Do not be divided in your thoughts or actions! Stand and having done all you know to do continue to stand (Eph 6:13)! Maintain the course! Study to show yourself approved and a useful vessel. Fight the good fight of faith. Distractions lead to fear – distractions lead to division – distractions lead to instability! Choose to remain fixed and stable. Choose to study the Word. Choose to be a usable vessel. Choose to be His weapon and warrior. Choose – choose well…

Word of the Day – April 25, 2012

For the week of April 23-27, the word is WHOLE

Psalm 86 (Amplified)

A Prayer of David.

1INCLINE YOUR ear, O Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and distressed, needy and desiring.

2Preserve my life, for I am godly and dedicated; O my God, save Your servant, for I trust in You [leaning and believing on You, committing all and confidently looking to You, without fear or doubt].

3Be merciful and gracious to me, O Lord, for to You do I cry all the day.

4Make me, Your servant, to rejoice, O Lord, for to You do I lift myself up.

5For You, O Lord, are good, and ready to forgive [our trespasses, sending them away, letting them go completely and forever]; and You are abundant in mercy and loving-kindness to all those who call upon You.

6Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer; and listen to the cry of my supplications.

7In the day of my trouble I will call on You, for You will answer me.

8There is none like unto You among the gods, O Lord, neither are their works like unto Yours.

9All nations whom You have made shall come and fall down before You, O Lord; and they shall glorify Your name.

10For You are great and work wonders! You alone are God.

11Teach me Your way, O Lord, that I may walk and live in Your truth; direct and unite my heart [solely, reverently] to fear and honor Your name.

12I will confess and praise You, O Lord my God, with my whole (united) heart; and I will glorify Your name forevermore.

13For great is Your mercy and loving-kindness toward me; and You have delivered me from the depths of Sheol [from the exceeding depths of affliction].

14O God, the proud and insolent are risen against me; a rabble of violent and ruthless men has sought and demanded my life, and they have not set You before them.

15But You, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in mercy and loving-kindness and truth.

16O turn to me and have mercy and be gracious to me; grant strength (might and inflexibility to temptation) to Your servant and save the son of Your handmaiden.

17Show me a sign of [Your evident] goodwill and favor, that those who hate me may see it and be put to shame, because You, Lord, [will show Your approval of me when You] help and comfort me.

When you woke up this morning, what was on your mind? Were you planning your day or still reviewing yesterday? Did you awake with a smile on your face or a frown? Were you excited to begin another day or disappointed that they night was over so fast? Some people wake up grumpy and say “I am not a morning person” but God created you to be “ALL THE TIME PEOPLE”! God is the same all the time and He commands us to be joyful at all times in all seasons!  Pray and Praise without ceasing! Meditate on the Word day and night without ceasing! Then comes the kicker – “with your whole (undivided) heart! Devoting the whole of your heart to God and His Word leaves no room for anything else to color your attitude. If you are devoting your whole heart to God then you have none of your heart left to develop a bad heart or attitude.

It IS the little foxes that spoil the vine. The little areas of compromise that we allow ourselves to operate in and justify it by saying its normal or we can’t help it. If your outlook and behavior does not line up with the Word then you are CHOOSING to walk out a LIE! The enemy is forever trying to steal the blessing and favor of God from you. He has NO power on his own so he must try to influence people (you and those around you).  He is always trying to create situations and circumstances where you will in frustration, irritation, or desperation make the wrong choice. Pressure does magnify character and the enemy knows how to turn up the pressure. The temptations will come and keep coming! What you do before their arrival will necessarily dictate what you do when they arrive. Are you whole heartedly studying the Word? Are you praying and spending time in God’s presence? Are you allowing Holy Spirit to lead and guide you into change?

God is merciful and gracious toward us. His mercies are new every morning (Lam 3:23).  His desires above all things that we prosper and be in good health even as our soul prospers (3 John 1:2).   God desires you to be successful – He desires you to manifest His Presence in the Earth. He chose you without reservation. Are you choosing Him with your WHOLE (united) heart? Is your heart divided? Are the little compromises keeping you from the fullness God promised you? God HAS granted you strength (might and inflexibility to temptation)! Walk in who He says you are! Allow yourself to be wholly devoted to Him and His Word. In His Presence is fullness (wholeness). Choose to be WHOLE! Choose to TRUST IN, RELY ON, ABIDE IN, AND REQUIRE HIS PRESENCE, HIS WORD, AND THE WHOLENESS JESUS PURCHASED FOR YOUR LIFE AS OF YOUR VITAL NECESSITY FOR OUT OF IT FLOWS THE FULFILLMENT OF WHO YOU ARE! Choose Well…

 Psalms 119 (Amplified)

1BLESSED (HAPPY, fortunate, to be envied) are the undefiled (the upright, truly sincere, and blameless) in the way [of the revealed will of God], who walk (order their conduct and conversation) in the law of the Lord (the whole of God’s revealed will).

2Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are they who keep His testimonies, and who seek, inquire for and of Him and crave Him with the whole heart.

3Yes, they do no unrighteousness [no willful wandering from His precepts]; they walk in His ways.

Where are you today? Are you in a place of confusion and disillusion or are you in a place of feeling blessed happy fortunate and to be envied? It doesn’t matter what you feel if you are seeking to walk in what you know God has revealed to you through His Word then you are blessed, happy, fortunate and to be envied. You can say honestly say this with conviction if you understand that God is working all things for your good when you choose to earnestly follow after Him. It may not always feel that way but we walk by faith in the Word not by what our natural senses tell us.

The key is found in verse two – “they who keep His testimonies, and who seek, inquire for and of Him and crave Him with the whole heart”. If you are seeking, inquiring, and craving Him with your whole heart then you will receive understanding in the ways and purposes of God.  You must be whole in your approach and not double minded.

But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.  Matthew 12:25 (New King James)

Such doubters are thinking two different things at the same time, and they cannot decide about anything they do. They should not think they will receive anything from the Lord. James 1:7-8 (New Century Version)

The Word is complete and whole – Jesus was the Word made flesh. Jesus died to allow us to choose to receive that same ability to be complete and whole through His WHOLE sacrifice. He sacrificed all that He was in order that we may life whole and complete. He was whole in His approach. He chose to walk in the integrity of His preordained path. He had an understanding of the truth.

The Word became a human and lived among us. We saw his glory—the glory that belongs to the only Son of the Father—and he was full of grace and truth. John 1:14 (New Century Version)

What is truth to you? Is it what you see or feel? Is it what someone tells you or can you earnest and honestly say you seek the Lord and His Word for your truth. Where are you seeking your wholeness? In order to receive wholeness you must seek it wholly – not holding anything back. Unabashedly desire the wholeness of His Word with your whole heart. Be single-minded – be purpose minded – be whole minded! Choose to seek the whole of God’s revealed Will for you life. Choose to crave it with your whole heart – choose to be happy, fortunate, blessed and to be envied. Choose – Choose well…

LIVE. LOVE. WORSHIP.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and
with all your mind and with all your strength.
Mark 12:30 (NIV)

LIVE. LOVE. WORSHIP.
By: Lindsey Hollifield

What do you want out of life?

Loaded question, right? Well, chances are that, in one way or another, some type of love is covered by your list of criteria required to qualify your life as a happy and fulfilled one.  Guess what.  I’ve got GREAT news!  You’re already loved even more than you can possibly imagine, by a God whose very being consists of NOTHING BUT love – whether you know and believe it, or not.

I think the trouble sometimes comes in when we don’t FEEL loved, and when you don’t FEEL something – even if you KNOW it’s true – it can be hard to BELIEVE it.  So what can you do about it?  Scripture has our answer:

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. Galatians 6:7 (NKJV)

A lot of people like to use this verse almost threateningly – they only use it on the negative – but it says WHATEVER you sow, you WILL reap.  God didn’t make any mistakes when He gave His Word; it doesn’t say whatever bad you sow you’ll reap, or whatever good you sow you MIGHT reap.  For this reason, it’s important to consider this verse from both sides – EVERYTHING you sow you WILL reap – be it good, bad, or indifferent! OUR PART OF THE EQUATION

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and
with all your mind and with all your strength.
Mark 12:30 (NIV)

OUR PART OF THE EQUATION.

By: Lindsey Hollifield

As you seek God, He reveals different parts of His nature.  Part of this nature is that God is a Healer.  Not only is He ABLE to heal, He LONGS to heal everything that ails you in anyway at all – no matter how great or small.

This applies to so much more than just physical healing of the body – He longs to heal our hearts and emotions from past hurts, to heal our minds from damaging mindsets and habits, to heal our families from the destruction and division caused by generational curses and other tactics of the enemy.

While God does not withhold healing from us – or any other good thing for that matter – He does expect us to take an active role in our own healing.  In Mark 6:56, He tells us our part of the equation:

And wherever He came into villages or cities or the country, they would lay the sick in the marketplaces and beg Him that they might touch even the fringe of His outer garment, and as many as touched Him were restored to health. Mark 6:56 (AMP) Continue reading

WINNING LIFE’S BATTLES.

By: Lindsey Hollifield

Let’s face it: life isn’t always easy. In fact, sometimes everyday can feel like a battle – a battle for joy, a battle for peace, a battle for success. In reality, it is.  But what/who are we fighting?

We all have a mission and a purpose for which we were created.  Our enemy has one, too – to stop us from accomplishing ours.  Our enemy is invisible; it’s that voice you hear that tells you about everything you “can’t” do.  It tells you how you don’t measure up, and how everyone else is better than you… which is sometimes true, right? WRONG!

The question is: how do you fight this invisible enemy, who wants so badly to make you believe these senseless lies?  Continue reading
